Federate SDV has shared an updated Strategic Roadmap, offering a clear view of how multiple projects and consortia work together to advance the goals and principles of the SDVoF initiative.
The document, developed in collaboration with the Twin-Loop project and its contributions, presents an overview of the main challenges associated with Software-Defined Vehicles (SDVs), the approaches adopted by the automotive industry, and the objectives, which range from reducing time-to-market and development costs through collaboration to fostering joint efforts between industry and public authorities for the design and implementation of an open SDV platform. It also outlines the expected outcomes and milestones achieved by the European initiative Software-Defined Vehicle of the Future (SDVoF).
The SDVoF initiative aims to enhance collaboration among European OEMs and suppliers by concentrating on non-differentiating elements of the vehicle software stack. By adopting a system-level approach, it seeks to improve coordination across existing alliances and ensure alignment with EU initiatives in open automotive hardware, connected and automated vehicles, and zero-emission mobility. This collaborative endeavour is intended to establish a robust ecosystem while making appropriate use of open-source software to stimulate innovation and increase development efficiency across the automotive sector.
In addition, related projects with a focus on SDVs, such as HAL4SDV, are also taken into account.
