Automotive development has shifted from mechanically driven engineering to software-centric systems. Modern vehicles now function as complex, distributed computing platforms. The demand for continuous software updates, improved safety and comfort, and highly configurable features has made advanced onboard computing essential, giving rise to the concept of the Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV).
Four complementary EU-funded projects address SDV challenges from different perspectives:
-
FEDERATE (Chips-JU)
30 partners, €2M budget -
HAL4SDV (Chips-JU)
52 partners, €64.5M budget -
TWIN-LOOP (Horizon Europe / 2ZERO)
13 partners, €5M budget -
CODE4EV (Horizon Europe / 2ZERO)
14 partners, €5M budget
Together, these projects aim to enable collaboration, standardization, and innovation across the SDV ecosystem.
