TWIN-LOOP has reached an important technical milestone with the achievement of MS8 – Beta release of the Open Framework MyEV Digital Twin implementation.
This milestone marks the delivery of the first working version of the TWIN-LOOP MyEV Digital Twin framework, providing the basis for future integration, testing and validation activities within the project. The beta release implements the core framework architecture across two communicating layers: an in-vehicle layer, designed for resource-constrained onboard environments, and an off-board layer, designed for cloud-based processing and scalability.
The implementation includes the main architectural components defined for the framework, including the Orchestrator, Identity and Access Management, Gateway, Data Manager and App Interfaces. These components establish the first operational structure for managing data flows between the vehicle, the Digital Twin and connected applications.
A key achievement of MS8 is the verification of end-to-end data flows using a simulated vehicle data pipeline. The framework demonstrates how vehicle signals can move from the in-vehicle environment to the off-board Digital Twin, how applications can access Digital Twin data through standard interfaces, and how updates can be exchanged between the cloud and vehicle layers.
The beta release also integrates selected components from the Eclipse Software-Defined Vehicle ecosystem, including KUKSA Databroker, Eclipse Ditto and Eclipse Zenoh. Their integration represents a first step towards aligning the TWIN-LOOP framework with emerging open and interoperable SDV technologies.
MS8 is not intended to represent a final production-ready system, but rather a solid technical foundation for the next stages of the project. The framework now provides the data paths, interfaces and modular structure needed to support the integration of TWIN-LOOP application modules, including battery monitoring, energy optimisation, thermal management, range forecasting and other Digital Twin-enabled services.
This achievement represents a concrete step forward in TWIN-LOOP’s mission to enable continuously evolving, energy-efficient and resilient Software-Defined Electric Vehicles through vehicle-specific Digital Twins and TwinOps lifecycle orchestration.
