TWIN-LOOP contribution to WASA 2026 with research on Software-Defined Electric Vehicles

TWIN-LOOP was represented at the 12th International Workshop on Autonomous Systems and Software Architecture (WASA 2026), held on June 23, 2026, in Amsterdam, in conjunction with the International Conference on Software Architecture (ICSA 2026).

The workshop brings together researchers and practitioners working on autonomous systems, software architecture and engineering, with the aim of identifying new research directions, challenges and opportunities for long-term collaboration between academia and industry.

During the WASA session, Rodi Jolak presented the paper “Expert Perspectives on Designing the Architecture of Software-Defined Electric Vehicles,” co-authored by Christian Casanova, Efi Papatheocharous, Ellen Scott, Iraklis Symeonidis and Pontus Svenson.

The paper explores how the shift towards Software-Defined Electric Vehicles introduces new architectural challenges linked to electrification, including energy management, battery optimisation and electric motor control. Based on insights from twelve automotive software experts, the study highlights the importance of zonal and cross-domain architectures, modular software solutions and key quality attributes such as safety, security and reliability.

This contribution reinforces TWIN-LOOP’s work on Software-Defined Vehicles and its commitment to advancing more robust, efficient and future-ready electric mobility systems.
