The 9th RTR Conference in Brussels brought together more than 1,000 participants, both onsite and online, for three days dedicated to dialogue and innovation. Across 32 sessions, 95 EU-funded projects highlighted progress in road transport — spanning electrification, AI, CCAM, urban mobility and road safety.
The central message was clear: competitiveness is once again a top priority for Europe. To stay ahead globally, Europe must convert its strong R&D capabilities into affordable, resilient and market-ready solutions, backed by investment and robust business cases.
Day 2 addressed Europe’s persistent “scale gap,” where too many innovations struggle to reach the market. The European Commission stressed the importance of better financial coordination, stronger capital markets and a more innovation-friendly regulatory framework by 2026.
2Zero contributed to the debate on Software-Defined Vehicles with the participation of TwinLoop coordinator Stefano Persi.
With a new Strategic Research and Innovation (and Deployment) Agenda and an expert group set to launch in 2026, RTR defined the path forward for the next phase of Europe’s mobility transformation.
